Hair loss in women: causes and possibilities

In women, hair loss is usually more diffuse: the part becomes wider or the hair feels thinner, without a clear bald zone.
Common causes
Hormonal changes (pregnancy, menopause), iron or vitamin deficiencies, thyroid function, stress and tight hairstyles can play a role. A blood test via the GP is often a useful first step.
Is a transplant possible?
A hair transplant can be suitable for women when the loss is local, for example at the hairline or temples, and the donor area is stable and dense enough. This is not always the case with completely diffuse loss.
Supportive treatments
PRP and LED therapy can support the scalp. Micro hair pigmentation can visually fill a thin part. During the consultation we look at which combination is realistic.
