Aftercare guide for your treatment
Scalp micropigmentation: before & aftercare
How to prepare for your session and care for your scalp afterwards, step by step.
Before treatment
Allowed
- Tell us about medication, allergies and skin conditions.
- A few days before: send us your medication list. Include aspirin, ibuprofen, naproxen, omega-3, vitamin E and minoxidil. Your practitioner will advise you individually; do not stop anything yourself.
- Blood thinners or prescribed aspirin? Keep taking them as prescribed. Only your prescribing clinician can decide whether and when to pause them. We may postpone your session if needed.
- On the day: drink water and eat a normal meal. You do not need to fast for SMP unless your clinician tells you otherwise.
- Shaving: ask us a few days beforehand which hair length suits your treatment. A shaved look and density work between existing hairs need different preparation. Follow our agreed trimming time and length.
- Tell us about previous pigment work or recent scalp treatments.
- Arrive with a clean scalp.
Avoid
- From 3 days before your session: no alcohol. This is our practical preparation advice; other clinics may use a different timeframe.
- For the 24 hours before your session: avoid caffeine — coffee, caffeinated tea, cola and energy drinks. Choose water or a caffeine-free drink.
- Do not blade-shave immediately before the session unless instructed: it can cause cuts or irritation. No depilatory cream. For density work, do not shave away existing hair without discussing it first.
- No gel, wax or other styling products on your scalp.
- Avoid sunburn before your session.
- Wounds or irritated skin? Tell us beforehand; we do not treat damaged skin.
